Welcome Home

Oxford is quite the contrast to Berlin. The utterly befuddling chaos of Berlin seems so far away, but that’s what coming home is all about. I’m finding home comforts so novel including my mum’s pineapple upside down cake. I would give you the recipe, but it’s a secret.

Hello! How nice to see you.

I thought I better say a little something before I begin. Not too much though, as I have the attention span of a gnat and I like to work on the assumption that I’m not the only one. Still with me? Good. This blog will mainly be about food I’ve made myself and would like to share. I’m no Heston Blumenthal, I believe in simple pleasures, but occasionally there might be something a little more complicated than beans on toast.

I’m a student and can’t spend more than £20 on my weekly shop. I do have to be quite strict (NB: ‘quite’) so, if I do splash out on something sumptuous, I’ll be living off Marmite toast for the rest of the week.

As for reviews, I’ve slowly gathered a collection of my favourite Oxford eateries but I feel somewhat daunted by the prospect of doing the same for London and so will need lots of help. I’m about to move into a flat off Brick Lane and cannot wait to get my teeth in. I’ll only write about places I like. Who wants to hear someone whinge about a mangy salad anyway? Ergh, salad with mange. Gross.

Let’s eat!
